Hmm... If I remember correctly, when the Changi Airport MRT station was first opened, the train service, without disruption, went directly to it (i.e. You can take MRT from then Boon Lay all the way to Changi Airport without having to alight at Tanah Merah for transfer).

But they stopped doing so after a while; can't remember why though.

Not so sure. Maybe it also depends on driver. I have seen sometimes the North train holding the door for a bit longer than usual at city hall while everyone rushes from the West train to the North train.

Then again, I believe trains have a tight schedule to follow, especially those using the middle platform. Both directions utilizing the same track, won't want to have accident right?

I think there is something like the Airport Express. It's some mini van that picks tourist from their hotel. But I think it's expensive so no one really uses it.

i think it's difficult considering how packed the current MRT rail is in the East...

but ya, i'd agree with you that they should have some flexibility regarding the train transfer, cos it ALWAYS happen to me, be it at Tanah Merah, or City Hall. it's SUPER IRRITATING lor.
