some knowledge transfer

Let me tell you a story about 2 mechanical engineering undergraduates.

Guy A is this laid back part time undergrad who paid full time tuition fee. He can't quite be bothered about grades.

Guy B, on the other hand, has that mugger look on first sight. Beneath those glasses and jeans with polo-t fully tucked in, is the first class honours material.

Guy B always asks Guy A when he has queries about the lecture notes. During lab session, Guy B always looks at Guy A's computer screen and asks him for help. And at the end, Guy B always borrows the lab report from Guy A "for reference".

Although it doesn't seem logical, but Guy A will remain as those barely-make-it-to-graduation type while Guy B will happily get first class honours.

If you are Guy A, how would you feel. If you are not Guy A, how do you think Guy A should feel?

  • Is this some kinda riddle?

Although it doesn't seem logical, but Guy A will remain as those barely-make-it-to-graduation type while Guy B will happily get first class honours. <--- why isn't it logical? unless you're saying Guy A got better results than Guy B.

if Guy A doesn't put in efforts and just keep asking people for 'references' and all, it's not surprising if he ended up being just a person who smoked through his degree.

  • If I am guy A, I wouldn't feel anything much, since it's already mentioned that guy A is "laid back" and "can't quite be bothered about grades".

  • If Guy A really has the kind of personality you mentioned then it won't come as a surprise if he behaves that way. Personally though, I think every student should be conscious of their study lives. Some students take their studies for granted, not knowing there are others who were just aching to get into their college, some even not having enough resources to do so.

  • 1. borrow B's report "for reference also"
    2. borrow B's lecture notes, zap everything
    3. continue getting lousy grades, till he decide to put in effort to mug?
    4. Blog abt it? oops, sounds familiar. o.O
