parents do tell lies

The other day I was on the MRT train, and this kid opposite me was running around. His mother caught hold of him, pointed to the ceiling and told him "if you naughty, camera catch you". I followed her finger and looked at the ceiling. Hey, that's no camera, just the air-con vents!

Parents tell all sorts of lies. What police catch you, soldier catch you, flower eat you, lollipop is spicy, coke is poisonous, etc etc. Even once I was in the lift and a boy was playing with the button, the mother also pointed to me and told the kid "later kor kor scold you." Ooi, you want to lie to your son don't have to make me the bad guy right?

Have you ever been cheated by your parents?

  • I remember when I was young i was playing with my house telephone. My mother lied to me saying that if I continue to play, the police would catch me. Of course I was very 'ti ki' , and ignored what she said. After that the phone rang. Obviously it was me who picked up the phone. I asked :

    "Who are you?"

    The caller replied :

    "I AM POLICE."

I was so frightened by it and thought police really came to get me.

After that I realised it was my uncle who called. Coincidentally, he used that phrase to scare me(it was without my mother's knowledge).

    Roughly 17 or 16 years ago~

    Young Me:
I don't want to eat, not nice de!!!

    Mom:
If you don't finish your food huh, your face will grow pimples!!!

    Young Me:
    Huuh??

    Mom:
The more rice left, the more pimples you will have...

    Young Me:
    !!!

    Mom:
Girls who don't finish their food, their face will grow pimples...
Boys who don't finish their food, their wife will grow pimples...

    Young Me:
Why the pimple didn't grow on the boy's face??

    Mom:
Becos boys don't care about their face, only their wife's face...

    A few moments later...

    Young Me:
Then what if the girl got finish her food, but the boy did not, then they get married how??

    Mom:
Young kids don't ask these kind of things...
    Eat your food...

  • when you become a parent, will you lie to your kids? If you say no, I doubt it would be the biggest lie. haha.

  • hehe.
    nice post.
and yah, i've been lie to also.
    when i was young,
    my uncle,very close to me,
created a character to scare us,(Me n my cousin)
his name is Capten Dollah, with mustache and all. He has a gun, and a big dog who ate little naughty kids.

So every evening, when we refused to take a nap,
he'd say he would call up Capten Dollah. hahaha..
So again, fooled for more than 3 years, we were nice little kids whenvr my uncle is around.

and RICKY KAN: yeah, i think i may tell a little lie to my kids, just like how i do with my little sisters now. hehe.

  • hahaha thanks for sharing your stories!!

Hmm now I really wonder will I lie to my kids in future, if I manage to have kids that is.

  • Well, the mother is half-correct. Cos the kid might just be caught on Stomp! or whatever if he misbehaves too much. Almost everyone has a camera phone now and cameras are actually everywhere.

  • lol, the stomp example is classic!

By Blogger chillycraps, at 8/02/2008 09:43:00 PM

  • My mother used to say 'If you don't behave, bangala will catch you'

    Talk about racial harmony...

  • wah... racism starts from family...

By Blogger chillycraps, at 8/04/2008 11:24:00 PM

  • Yup, I agree with Ravon on the camera handphone photo upload onto Stomp thingy; seem like a lot of people "eat full nothing better to do" (translate into Mandarin).

George Orwell wrote: "Big Brother is watching" but I think for Singapore's case, with all those camera handphone vigilantes around, it's "Little Brothers are watching"...

Interesting enough, while we see a lot of photos & videos of supposedly "ugly Singaporeans" posted online, we seldom see such stuff for gracious Singaporeans, the recent Class 95 competition notwithstanding... Hmm... No gracious Singaporeans or people to take photos of "ugly Singaporeans"?

Side-tracking, if there is really a pin-hole camera hidden in the air-con vents on the ceilings of MRT trains, I think ladies who wear low-cut attire while taking MRT need to be extra careful liao, lest they kena downblouse photos...

  • dot dot dot, last paragraph then u say side-tracking...

By Blogger chillycraps, at 8/06/2008 12:19:00 PM

  • Last paragraph cannot be side-tracking meh?

By Blogger LCC, at 8/06/2008 12:29:00 PM

  • cos your whole comment has side-tracked =P

By Blogger chillycraps, at 8/06/2008 12:58:00 PM

  • Ok... Get what you mean but, well, I was just picking on what Ravon was saying...

By Blogger LCC, at 8/06/2008 01:43:00 PM
