a few cells against a fuel cell
2) Engineering giant Rolls-Royce and a consortium of Singapore companies, known as EnerTek Singapore Pte Ltd, have signed an agreement to invest S$164.7 million (US$100 million) to develop a commercially viable power system based on fuel cell technology. That was back in early 2005. It is already 2007. The growing evidence that we read is that fuel cell technology will not even take off but it will be biofuels or even plug in hybrids that will transform the transport industry.
On one hand, it's quite true that biofuel is going to change the transport industry with the EU Biofuels Directive in place, on the other hand, fuel cell technology can achieve what biofuel can't. For a start, fuel cell is not limited by the Carnot cycle efficiency as in combustion engine. And with zero carbon emission, what else do you want? (biofuel still emits 50% of gasoline's carbon monoxide)
There must be a reason why giants like Rolls-Royce (and also Georgia Tech) are researching on fuel cells.

but fuel cells are less efficient and produce less power, right?
And for fuel cell if we are talking about the hydrogen oxygen one, then it's not very gd coz the extraction process of hydrogen takes up lots of energy.
