remote child control

There's this engineer at my workplace who likes to call home to check on his kids, to see whether they are doing their homework and stuff. So today I overheard this:

Go and stand on the chair. Don't come down until the next time I call back.

I wonder if he forgot to call back, his poor kid would be standing until he reaches home... But then again, do you think his kid would be so obedient?
