boeing 777 wing ultimate load test

For those who are saturated with Mechanics of Materials II, let me make it worse.

This more than 10 years old video shows Boeing testing its 777 jetliner's wings for failure.

"154..." BANG!
Did I see a yellow rubber duck?

  • woh ho.. 154% of the ultimate loading.. lol..

nothing compared to the 300% loading that I observed.. on a concrete pile.. and it didn't bucklet or break at all.. lol.. think the loading was about 100ton for the ULT.. then on top of that, they tested 300% cuz it's marine clay that the concrete pile is lying on..

but it was dangerous nonetheless.. sand falling overhead..

  • LoL I have no idea why the ducky was there... I saw it appear twice, once on the equipment and the other time on the ground.

  • The ducky probably served as a lucky amulet for the load test. However, the impact was so great that it blew the ducky off from the equipment. Poor ducky.. somehow or rather, the ducky manage to stay upright. Lolz...
