selfish-nus

Share your knowledge.
It's a way to achieve immortality

-- Dalai Lama

Have you heard of the saying that people from NUS (both grads and ugrads) are more selfish than others? At first I rebutted, but now I start to buy that idea.

Just because competition is stiff, that's why everyone is all out for him/herself? Helping one another means you lose an advantage?

So all this while I have been living in a false consciousness thinking that when you share with others, others will share with you. How naive can I be.

And I am getting more and more disheartened with the so-called friends. Oh, they didn't declare they were my friends anyway. In fact they didn't ask me to share, it's I voluntarily email them the questions. My fault.

  • haiz, nothing much, just some sharing of quiz questions, cos we have a trial quiz that generates random questions, so we were like compiling and sharing the different questions lor. Ended up I'm the only one sharing... and the actual 50% CA is next tuesday lor...

NVM, must be exam affecting my mood.... afterall they didn't sign contract to share with me also.

  • dude, chill.

It only means that you learn more about people you mix around with and how to interact with them in future.

Overall, I think it gives a greater appreciation for those who are truely friends. :) Don't you agree?

  • Never mind, at least you know you did a good deed by sharing...

They are still unselfish people left in NUS... You just have to find it...

  • Aiyoh,no need angry lah,I've not done it yet, that's why i didn't send the questions to you.As soon as i've done it i'll email to you ok?

  • alex: it's inevitable that this learning process keeps repeating when we meet new ppl. These few days I keep bumping into old friends and realize that you don't need to interact often in order to maintain close ties.

btw you sound like advertising yourself =)

snoookems: yah trial started long time ago, wanna share questions (like how u did for mechanics?)

averii: yah, canteen veggie stall don't sell fish.

hj: so clever, how come you know I'm talking abt u? The other 2 also haven't sent leh. I guess I pressed the panic button too early... but Tuesday is coming!

  • can...i haven't done mine tho. when i've done mine i'll post a comment here n we'll execute da trade!

How does it work actually? Is it 5 minutes per trail? Are the question the same for every trail? (We have 5 tries).

Oh well, be comforted in the saying: "hao ren you hao bao". (good people got good hugs).hur hur.

  • Well, it's always the case in every educational insituition, not only in NUS. Take it easy man. Things are much worst in the working society, when everyone in the coy wants to impress/suck up the bosses. From lesson learnt, you will find true friends;)

By Anonymous Stephen, at 11/11/2006 05:35:00 PM

  • snoookems: yup 10 questions in 5 minutes, but some questions will be repeated. I did all 5 trials and all together I only saw 20 different questions... sian.

maybe I should learn from you, discuss during the quiz!

stephen: hmm actually it's people in working world said that. They say ppl who graduated from NUS seem to be less willing to share their information, even if they are working in the same department. As for school wise, since i'm not anywhere near dean's list, not much secret to keep anyway. 多 D 入黎吹水啦!

By Blogger chillycraps, at 11/11/2006 09:54:00 PM

  • Really? I didn't know that those comments came from the mouth of working society ppl. Hmm...it's subjective. Sharing informations and jeopadize ur opportunity of 'scoring' pts infront of ur bosses or be a Mr Nice Guy among ur colleagues. Personally, I would observe the ppl around me and apply the treatment accordingly.

Haha...neither am I in the dean's list, but dean's UNWANTED list. LOLz.....

  • please check your nus mailbox asap...

By Blogger snoookems, at 11/12/2006 02:38:00 PM

  • hmm..NUS is NOT the ONLY organization which is full of fish-selling ppl, u'll meet more when u've graduated, don't mean to scare ya, but it's true. So open up ur eyes big big. ;P

Btw, stay cool & all the best for exams!
